Hi nas_sap: I had the same problem of printer driver for printing using the AEBS extreme base station for my X5470 Printer. Any ideas about making the os recognize my printer as a scanner as well would be appreciated. I don't know whether I may be doing something wrong. But although I am able to print, I still cannot manage to scan, since my device is not recognized and this is the reason why I chose to download Lexmark's web installer for 10.5. I've also read the printer support article and I know for a fact that Lexmark's printing ability is guaranteed through Snow Leopard. I know that my current os is newer than Lexmark's driver version. In addition, Lexmark's article also indicates Snow Leopard compatibility. ( ) It indicates the 5400 series offer scanning and printing support. Apple has an article regarding printer support via Snow Leopard. It's very possible that the installer is checking for Leopard architecture, which you don't have.

First off, the application you're trying to download and install is for 10.5 (Leopard) and you're running 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Hi nas_nap, I did a little digging and found some good links for this issue.

The specified message could not be found for the index 17.' Any ideas how can I make the scanner work? Thank you all in advance for your time. When I try to install it I receive the following message: 'Lexmark 5400 Web Installer 10.5 can’t be installed on this computer. So, I visited Lexmark's site and I downloaded 'Lexmark 5400_Web_Installer10.5.dmg. However if I do this I have no scanning capability, since no devices appear in Image Capture Application. Unfortunately I can install it only as a printer by using Leopard's built-in driver.

After the upgrade i decided to install my X5470 multifunction printer (printer, scanner Fax). If you would like to report a bug, please include this information.Recently I upgraded my MacBook to Snow Leopard. Your answers have been collected together with other useful information. There is no obvious solutiom to this problem. So far I was unable to get my all-in-one Lexmark X5470 to work as either a Printer or a Scanner under Linux Mint 9.īellow is the error message I'm getting when attempting to use as a Printer:Īs this post will limit the number of characters I can insert in one message, I will have to split the error message in 2 separate messages. My install of Linux Mint 9 is 32-bit Gnome (Linux Mint 9 Gnome DVD i386).

The Printer I'm having problems with is my Printer, Scanner, Fax - all-in-one Lexmark X5470 - otherwise reffered to as a Lexmark 5400 Series.īoth printing and scanning on this all-in-one Lexmark X5470 work fine under Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and also under Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (have not installed and/or tested the 64-bit versions of Windows). I sometimes need to print in color and so far I was unable to do that. The Samsung ML-2510 (Black Laser Printer) works fine under Linux Mint 9, but can only print in black. a Samsung ML-2510 (Black Laser Printer) and a Printer, Scanner, Fax - all-in-one Lexmark X5470 - otherwise reffered to as a Lexmark 5400 Series in all documentation and Windows install and bundled software.
